Arboretums and botanical gardens are a stable BNEA activity. This one was a good example of the things we find along the way. Nice plants of course but also Kudzu and Snapping Turtles made this one stand out. Usually we see turtles in protected habitats however here they were roaming around unsupervised. Bruce tried to help one little guy off the path into the water only to come close to losing a finger when the turtle was less than pleased. Bruce was intrigued by the Kudzu which is prevalent all over the south.
We first encountered kudzu on our first Knoxville Adventure in 1998 visiting Bob Luedeka. That was one of the top Adventures featuring such amazing stories like when we wandered into a nuclear power plant asking to take a tour. Also, it was the debut of Bruce the Angler, a “One Off” moment. Kill a few more minutes and Take Another Look.
